Gubbio (Pg) will host, starting from October 15 2023, IMAGINA, a large and elaborate exhibition of contemporary art that crosses and involves the entire city. Inauguration on October 15th, 12:00 PM, at Palazzo Pretorio, Piazza Grande. The exhibition path of IMAGINA unfolds between the Civic Museum Palazzo dei Consoli and the Museum of Palazzo Ducale, chosen because they respectively represent the medieval and Renaissance history of the city. Over 40 young Italian artists have been invited to participate in this major event that aims to continue the historic Biennale of Gubbio (1956 – 2016), reinterpreting it with new languages. A project that asks artists to revive the genius loci of Gubbio in a contemporary key, proposing a new cultural identity of the city itself, which can draw inspiration from the past to project it towards new and unprecedented cultural horizons. “The curatorial principle that guided the entire construction of this event has been the reactivation of the Genius Loci of the city: the use of the medieval and Renaissance soul, the involvement of the population and local craftsmanship, and the activation of the great cultural experiences that have characterized Gubbio in recent years. For this reason, we could not but revive the tradition of the Biennale, which over the years has been a strong identity trait for the people of Gubbio,” explain the curators Ludovico Pratesi and Marco Bassan. The exhibition, curated by SPAZIO TAVERNA, is promoted by the Municipality of Gubbio with the contribution of the University of Arts and Crafts (University of Blacksmiths, University of Stonemasons – Sculptors – Allied Arts, University of Carpenters, University of Tailors, University of Shoemakers), and the support of Ceramiche Fumanti, the company Ti Style iT, and Colacem s.p.a.
