Logge dei Tiratori della Lana

The building of the Logge dei Tiratori, equipped with a portico and bordered by the church of Santa Maria dei Laici, was originally the headquarter of the hospital of Santa Maria. The building was erected in 1326 on the initiative of the brotherhood of the same name. In 1505 other city hospitals joined Logge dei Tiratori.  The building took the name of “Spedal Grande” and remained open until 1628. On its façade there is a 1473 fresco of the Madonna between the SS. Pietro e Paolo of 1473, attributed to Nelli’s pupil.
